La Vanguardia devotes an extensive report to the inclusion of scientific centres, among them IRB Barcelona, in the organization Barcelona Global. Drawing attention to the contribution of these centres to strengthening the Barcelona Brand and how they can benefit from this relationship to gain in competitiveness, the article has arisen as a result of the tour around research institutes organized by Barcelona Global with the aim to build close links between the business sector and scientists. In the article, Joan J Guinovart, IRB Barcelona director, states that "if businessmen are aware of the value of our research, we could more easily transfer the knowledge that we generate to the business sector".

The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) pursues a society free of disease.
