The Complementary Plan for Biotechnology promotes high-throughput screening projects to accelerate drug discovery.
IRB Barcelona has announced the "SCREENTECH" initiative under the Complementary Plan for Biotechnology in Catalonia, aiming to accelerate new drug discoveries through high-throughput screening. This action will enhance the Drug Screening Platform at the Institute, increasing its capacity for processing and analysis.
This effort, co-financed by the EU, the Spanish Government and the Government of Catalonia, involves collaborations across various regions of Spain, enhancing research in personalised medicine. It represents a significant push towards innovative drug discovery and therapy development.
Through a competitive call, the programme has prioritised eight high-performance drug screening projects with a global budget of €452,000. These projects are devoted to discovering new drugs for diseases like colorectal cancer and leukaemia, focusing on precision medicine and drug repositioning.
