The IRB Barcelona director, Joan J. Guinovart, has contributed an opinion article to La Vanguardia entitled: "Es la hora de los investigadores", "Ara és l'hora, investigadors!". Guinovart claims for a reform in the way Spanish research centers, universities and research hospitals work in order to become more competitive.

The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) pursues a society free of disease.
