The Innovation Department invites you to meet our guest speaker Stephanie K. Marrus, Managing Director of Entrepreneurship at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the leading science and medical graduate university in the US and sister school to UC Berkeley.

Stephanie has a deep network (among life science investors, serial entrepreneurs, accelerators, founders, attorneys and consultants). She leads a global virtual entrepreneurship course. She will share her experience in “Starting a Life Sciences/Healthcare Company in Silicon Valley”.

Stephanie K. Marrus

Stephanie Marrus is the Managing Director of Entrepreneurship at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the leading science and medical graduate university in the US and sister school to UC Berkeley. She is a Silicon Valley life science/healthcare startup expert and has helped start numerous companies based on UCSF technology. A key node in the Silicon Valley entrepreneurship ecosystem. She is affiliated with entrepreneurship programs at UC Berkeley and Stanford, as well as programs in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Her presentations have been viewed across the world. She works with the US State Department, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Her entrepreneurship policy recommendations have been reviewed at the White House and State Department.


Prior to joining UCSF, she held C-Suite business roles in biotechnology companies. She has been CEO, COO and VP Corporate Development for public and private firms, led partnering and M&A transactions, and headed Corporate Development, Strategy, Marketing, Communications and Investor Relations.


She holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MA from Columbia University.
