El diario ABC, con una tirada de 342.820 ejemplares, entrevista a Eduard Batlle, Jefe del Programa de Oncología del IRB Barcelona, acerca del cáncer de colon y de cómo este se origina a partir de un tumor beningno en las capas epiteliales. El epitelio intestinal se regenera a una velocidad muy elevada y para ello cuenta con unas células madre muy activas que pueden, por mutaciones en su ADN, derivar en células madre cancerosas. “El reto está en identificar las células madre tumorales y distinguirlas de las sanas para poder diseñar un tratamiento más selectivo”, dice Batlle.
