El diari El Mundo publica un article sobre la situació de les patents espanyoles. Entre els experts consultats es troba Modesto Orozco, cap del grup Modelització molecular i bioinformàtica de l'IRB Barcelona. Modesto critica que: La diferència al nostre país entre el nombre d'articles científics publicats i el nombre de patents és tremenda. Això significa que, en certa manera, s'estan tirant els diners perquè s'està generant molt coneixement que acaben aprofitant d'altres.
