La Vanguardia has published an article about the "Vanguardia de la Ciencia" award ceremony. The winners of these awards were selected by readers, who vote among eight Spanish researchers in the field of physics, chemistry, biology and social sciences. Marc Claret, at IDIBAPS, and Antonio Zorzano, at IRB Barcelona, came third for their research on the connection between the hypothalamus and the pancreas.

The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) pursues a society free of disease.
