La Vanguardia newspaper published an article about the winners of the "Vanguardia de la Ciencia" Award, organised by the same newspaper and the Catalunya-La Pedrera Foundation. A study by Marc Claret from IDIBAPS and Antonio Zorzano from IRB Barcelona revealing that a small group of neurons communicates with the pancreas to regulate the release of insulin got third place. This finding is an advance in the understanding of type 2 diabetes.
