The charity organisation headed by the sommelier Xavi Ayala, from Mollerussa, is to organise its 5th charity wine-tasting event for 450 people on 28 November in Calella.
For 5 euros, participants will have the chance to taste 6 wines from various DO (Designation of Origin) regions of Catalonia.
On Saturday 28 November, 18.00h, the sommelier Xavier Ayala, the person behind the charity organisation “Vi per Vida”, will be organising a new charity wine-tasting event for 450 people in Calella. The activity will be held in the Llobet–Guri factory and will cost the usual 5 euros. The proceedings will be donated to cancer and metastasis performed at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona). This will be the second wine-tasting event to be held in Calella and the fifth since the “Vi per Vida” charity was launched in April 2014.
“Vi per Vida” raise funds for researc into metastaiss and to increase públic awareness of the value of investigation. To date, through wine-tasting events and parallel activities with restaurants and wine fairs around Catalonia, “Vi per Vida” has raised moret han 5,000 euros. IRB Barcelona received the first donation in March this year.
For Xavi Ayala wine-tasting activities at a popular price accomplish two objectives, namely improving knowledge of wine and raising awareness of research in the general public. “We bring Catalan wines and people together in a fun way, using audiovisual presentations and Catalan pop /rock music and we all contribute to a good cause at the same time,” says the wine expert.
For only 5 euros, the participants will get to taste DO wines from Alella, Montsant, Priorat, Catalunya and Empordà, so passing through the different regions of Catalonia. The event will be presented by the journalist Elisabet Carnicè, while the taste itself will be done under the guidance of Xavi Ayala. Participants will be served by catering students from the Institut Bisbe Sivilla in Calella, who will also provide dishes to sample.
Tickets for the event can be purchased through Ticketea and through the Vi per Vida webpage. They can also be bought from three places in Calella (Fruits secs Tulsà, Restaurant Sapore d’Italia and the Institut Bisbe Sivilla).
