The website ‘El tema de los temas’, devoted to quality, efficiency and productivity, has published an extensive interview with Joan J. Guinovart, director of IRB Barcelona, addressing controversial issues, such as adjustments in science funding, the running of research centres and the perception that Spanish society has of its scientists. "People should know that the benefits they enjoy —a good university, good hospitals and good research centres— are very large benefits that wouldn’t be available without this system of knowledge", says Guinovart.
