IRB Barcelona director Joan Guinovart has been interviewed for the magazine of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) as president of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). In the interview, the scientist argues that we must change the teaching of biochemistry and cell biology and that science can make a positive impact in less developed countries.
Also included are a number of mentions about his work as director of IRB Barcelona. Guinovart criticizes the scientific policy of the country, accusing the government of indifference towards science.
The mentions highlight the excellence of IRB Barcelona, one of the few European research centres devoted to biomedicine that combines chemistry, biology and the study of structures.
