The Genomic Instability and Cancer Laboratory participates in the 3rd Knowledge Fair of Berga, an event promoted by the UPC and the UB and supported by the Berga Town Council and the Ministry of Education.

On 11 and 12 April, in the “Pabellón de Suecia” in Berga, the 3rd Knowledge Fair will be held, an event that seeks to inform secondary school students about cutting-edge research projects related to science and technology. The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) will participate in this fair through the Genomic Instability and Cancer Lab, headed by Travis Stracker.

Berta Terré, Helena González and Aida Peña, the first two PhD students and the latter a visiting student, will present “Radiotherapy: breaking DNA”. From a stand in the Fair, the three young students will explain how chemotherapy and radiotherapy work to treat cancer.

The Fair aims to bring science and technology closer to society by promoting scientific and technology vocations in secondary school students and nurturing the spirit to learn through investigation. The Fair offers a programme of activities that cover a wide range of subjects, and scientific technological topics. The Knowledge Fair is promoted by the UPC and the UB —components of the International Campus of Excellence known as the Barcelona Knowledge Campus (BKC)— and is supported by the Berga Town Council and the Ministry of Education.
