On 8 March, IRB Barcelona celebrates International Women’s Day and expresses its support of gender equality at all levels of society, especially in institutions devoted to science and research.
IRB Barcelona’s Equality and Diversity Committee, which participated in the video that we introduce here today, explains some of the actions of the new Equality and Diversity Plan aimed to achieve greater equality in the present and future.

Today, to mark International Women’s Day, IRB Barcelona is releasing an informative video with the collaboration of the institute’s Equality and Diversity Committee. The video seeks to raise awareness of some of the actions being implemented in the field of equality through the new Equality and Diversity Plan.

Committed to gender equality, IRB Barcelona joined the EU-funded CALIPER project in 2020. This European initiative aims to design a universal methodology that supports equality on a permanent basis to prevent gender discrimination in scientific institutions.

Throughout the project, IRB Barcelona’s goal is to implement an Equality and Diversity Plan to achieve the inclusion of a gender perspective in all areas of the institution.

In this regard, and understanding the importance of creating an environment in which diversity, equality and inclusion are valued and promoted, IRB Barcelona has drawn up a new Equality and Diversity Plan. This activity has provided tools and guidelines to conduct an exhaustive analysis of numerous aspects of equality at IRB Barcelona, with both an internal and external scope.

The design of the procedures included in the new Equality and Diversity Plan has involved various internal stakeholders of the institute, thereby achieving a global perspective on how to complement the actions presented in the document.

Through this Plan, IRB Barcelona aims to implement new actions to support and promote equality and diversity, providing a broader vision to drive structural change in this field.

The actions will serve to develop systematic regulations for the future that endeavour to integrate the gender perspective at all levels of the institution.

The Equality and Diversity Plan aims to create long-term solutions to the challenges identified in the institution and allow work to continue on existing actions and initiatives. To this end, IRB Barcelona's main objective is to make the principle of equality a distinctive feature of the institution, and to integrate the gender perspective at all levels of the organisation and in all its policies.

IRB Barcelona will continue to pave the way for the implementation and enforcement of gender equality and diversity procedures and policies.
