A report on “Recercat”, the research bulletin of the Government of Catalonia, on the capacity of researchers working in CERCA centres and universities in Catalonia to obtain competitive European funds from the ERC.
Among the recent awardees, ICREA researcher at IRB Barcelona Eduard Batlle, who has received an Advanced ERC Grant of 2.5 million euros to study the tumour stem cells of colorectal cancer.
IRB Barcelona now boasts 5 ERC grants: 4 Advanced and 1 Starting.

About IRB Barcelona
The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) pursues a society free of disease. To this end, it conducts multidisciplinary research of excellence to cure cancer and other diseases linked to ageing.
