Abstract

For the discovery of new bioactive compounds and ultimately drugs the initial choice of the compounds to be synthesized, their analysis in assays that mirror the dynamics of biological systems and the identification of their biological targets are of utmost importance The lecture will describe the evolution of Biology Oriented Synthesis to the development of “pseudo natural products” as compound design principles rooted in evolution, their application in cell-based phenotypic assays and the identification of the cellular target proteins of the identified active hits.
Examples will include new modulators of and biological target proteins in major developmental and cancer-related pathways and autophagy.
