Ernest Giralt, Joan J. Guinovart and Joan Massagué are included among the top 25 most influential scientists in Spain, according to the newspaper El Mundo. It is the eighth consecutive year that the IRB Barcelona directors appear in this ranking, which this year also includes Dr. Giralt, who received the 2011 National Spanish Research Award. The El Mundo ranking lists the 500 leading Spanish citizens of the year.

About IRB Barcelona

The Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) pursues a society free of disease. To this end, it conducts multidisciplinary research of excellence to cure cancer and other diseases linked to ageing. It establishes technology transfer agreements with the pharmaceutical industry and major hospitals to bring research results closer to society, and organises a range of science outreach activities to engage the public in an open dialogue.
