“The model through which to preserve scientific excellence is that of Barça”, affirmed Joan J. Guinovart last night in the debate “How can research of excellence survive the crisis?, organized by the la Caixa Welfare Programme and the newspaper "La Vanguardia" in the CaixaForum. “Playing in the Champions League, having outstanding non-national players, great local players and promising junior players as exportable assets”, continued the director of IRB Barcelona.

Today "La Vanguardia" relates the 6-sided debate, which also involved the participation of Emilià Pola (Idibell), Montserrat Vendrell (BioCat), Jaume Bertranpetit (Icrea), Joan Comella (VHIR) and Enric Banda (Obra Social la Caixa).
