The online newspaper El Día echoes recent findings on the origins of colorectal cancer by scientists led by the researcher Eduard Batlle at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona). The results, published in the latest issue of Cell Stem Cell, reveal the close relation between cell renewal by stem cells in the intestine and cancer. This breakthrough opens up new perspectives for the diagnosis and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
