In 2021, a number of scientists at IRB Barcelona have been acknowledged through different awards. Here we highlight four of them:
Dr. Eduard Batlle received the Rei Jaume I Prize, as an acknowledgement for his career and his significant contributions to research into colon cancer and, in particular, to the study of cancer stem cells and how they facilitate the evasion of the immune system.
Dr. Eulàlia de Nadal, was awarded the 2020 ICREA Acadèmia Award from the Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) to allow her to dedicate more time to research activities. Dr. de Nadal will focus her research on the study of the transcriptional regulation in response to stress, characterising its heterogeneity, as well as identifying new histone modifications.
Dr. Toni Gabaldón was elected new EMBO member. Comprising more than 1,800 leading researchers, EMBO is an organisation that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. New members are nominated and elected by the existing EMBO Membership; it is not possible to apply to become a member.
